Drain Cleaner
A foaming baking soda and vinegar treatment for slow-running drains — gentler on pipes than caustic commercial cleaners.
What you'll need
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- Boiling water
Steps
- Pour the baking soda directly into the drain.
- Follow with the vinegar and cover the drain if possible to keep the fizzing action down in the pipe.
- Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Flush with a full kettle of boiling water.
Tip: This works best on slow drains, not fully clogged ones — for a complete blockage, a drain snake is the more effective first step.
