Ink Remover

Photo of an ink stain being treated on fabric

Fresh ink pulls out of most fabrics far more easily than dried ink — treat it the moment you notice the mark for the best results.

What you'll need

Steps

  1. Place the absorbent cloth underneath the stained area to catch the ink as it lifts.
  2. Dab (never rub) the stain with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol, working from the outside of the stain inward.
  3. Replace the cotton ball as it picks up ink, continuing until no more color transfers.
  4. Launder as usual once the stain is fully lifted.
Tip: Test the alcohol on an inside seam first — some dyes can bleed with alcohol exposure, especially on delicate or hand-dyed fabrics.
