Mustard Plaster
A classic mustard plaster warms the chest and is a traditional folk remedy for chest congestion — used carefully to avoid skin irritation.
What you'll need
- 1 tbsp dry mustard powder
- 2 tbsp flour
- Warm water
- A thin cloth
Steps
- Mix mustard powder and flour with enough warm water to form a paste.
- Spread onto the cloth — never apply mustard paste directly to skin.
- Place cloth-side down on the chest for 10–15 minutes, checking skin frequently.
- Remove immediately if skin becomes uncomfortably hot or red.
Important: Mustard can burn skin if left on too long or applied directly — always use a cloth barrier and check often.
