Old-Fashioned Dishwashing Detergent
A grated-soap and washing soda liquid for hand-washing dishes — the same basic formula home cooks relied on before bottled detergent existed.
What you'll need
- 1/4 bar grated castile soap
- 2 tbsp washing soda
- 2 cups hot water
Steps
- Dissolve the grated soap in hot water over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Stir in the washing soda until fully dissolved.
- Cool completely and pour into a squeeze bottle by the sink.
Tip: It won't foam like store-bought dish soap — that's normal, and it still cuts grease just as well.
