DIY Herbal Steam Wrap for Sore Muscles
A warm herbal compress is an easy, low-cost way to ease tight shoulders or a sore lower back after a long day in the garden — built from dried herbs you likely already have.
What you'll need
- 2 tbsp dried chamomile flowers
- 2 tbsp dried lavender
- 1 tbsp coarse sea salt
- A clean cotton cloth or muslin bag
- Hot (not boiling) water
Steps
- Combine the chamomile, lavender, and sea salt in the cloth or muslin bag; tie it closed.
- Submerge the bag in hot water for two minutes, then lift it out and let it cool slightly.
- Press the warm bag gently against the sore area for 10–15 minutes, reheating briefly if it cools.
- Rest afterward — herbal heat therapy works best paired with stillness, not a return to activity.
Tip: Always test the wrap against your inner wrist before applying — it should feel warm, never hot.
