Sponge Reconditioner
A quick microwave steam treatment kills most of the bacteria living in a used kitchen sponge, extending its useful life between replacements.
What you'll need
- A damp kitchen sponge (no metal scouring layer)
Steps
- Wet the sponge thoroughly and wring out slightly so it's damp, not dripping.
- Microwave on high for 1–2 minutes.
- Let cool a few minutes before handling — it will be very hot.
Tip: Never microwave a dry sponge or one containing any metal — both are fire hazards.
