Prep: 5 min
Whitening Soak
A stronger overnight version of a whitening treatment, aimed at items that have gone properly gray or yellow rather than just slightly dull.
What you'll need
- 1 cup oxygen-based bleach powder
- 1 gallon hot water
- A large basin or clean bucket
Steps
- Dissolve the oxygen bleach powder fully in the hot water.
- Submerge the whites completely, making sure no fabric floats above the waterline.
- Let the items soak for 6–8 hours or overnight.
- Wash as usual afterward and dry in sunlight if possible for an extra boost.
Tip: Oxygen bleach is color-safe, unlike chlorine bleach, but always check a garment's care label first for any fabric-specific warnings.
